A Father to the Fatherless

Psalm 68 praises God as a Father to the fatherless and a defender of widows. His holiness is named alongside His concern for people who lack protection and belonging. This picture gives weight to the meaning of strength: the Lord's care reaches toward those whose needs can be overlooked. His people have reason to take those needs seriously as they praise Him.

Make that care practical today. Notice someone who is alone, offer reliable help, or make room at your table. A message, a meal, or a kept promise can become a small act of faithful attention. No single gesture can repair every loss, but love can begin with the person in front of you. Read Psalm 68 and consider whose need you have the ability to meet.
