Ask the Father for What Is Good

Reflection

Jesus points from imperfect human parents to the greater goodness of the Father in heaven. A child asks for food, and a caring parent responds with something good. In the surrounding passage, Jesus invites His hearers to ask, seek, and knock. His words give us reason to approach the Father with confidence in His character rather than confidence that every desire is wise.

Ask for what you need today, and ask for wisdom about what is truly good. Bring a responsibility, a concern, or a difficult conversation before God. Then take the faithful action you can take: serve someone, do your work honestly, or give with care. Prayer is part of a life directed toward the Father's goodness.
