Reflection
Paul bows before the Father and asks that the believers be strengthened through His Spirit. His prayer reaches into their inner life, where fear, fatigue, and discouragement can settle. He asks that Christ dwell in their hearts through faith, and he goes on to pray that they understand Christ’s love together with all the saints. Paul writes as a prisoner. The strength he seeks belongs in that difficult setting, helping believers grow in faith and love while hardship remains.
You can make this prayer your own tonight. Tell the Father where you feel weak, and ask Him to strengthen your faith through His Spirit. Take time to read the whole prayer, including its concern for the wider church. Think of someone who is carrying a heavy responsibility, and pray these words for them too. Let that prayer lead to a patient conversation or a practical offer of help. Love takes shape in the attention we give each other.
