Psalm 145:15–16

15 The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in season.

16 You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Reflection

Psalm 145 looks from one generation to the next, praising the Lord’s greatness and His kindness toward all He has made. These verses turn our attention to something as ordinary as food arriving in season. Life depends on gifts we cannot produce by ourselves: soil, rain, growth, and the care of other people. The Father’s provision invites gratitude rather than the belief that we are self-sufficient. The same psalm speaks of those who fall and those who cry out; praise leaves room for real need.

At the next meal, pause long enough to notice one gift you might usually overlook. Thank God for it, and remember someone whose table is less secure. You might share groceries, offer a meal, or ask what would help. Where your own needs remain unmet, bring them honestly to Him and seek practical support. Trust in His generous care can shape both the way we receive today’s bread and the way we share it.
